The Omron E2K-C20MT1 2M is a cylindrical capacitive proximity sensor from the E2K series, designed to detect both metallic and non-metallic materials such as plastics, liquids, or granules. Output is SCR normally open, two-wire, switching 20 to 250 VAC — straight into an AC control circuit without a separate DC supply.
Sensing distance is adjustable from 3 mm to 20 mm via a potentiometer inside the housing, giving flexibility for different target sizes or container wall thickness. The unshielded design means it can be flush-mounted in metal without derating, but the sensing field extends beyond the face — account for that in tight arrays. Response frequency is rated 25 Hz for the 20 mm setting and 40 Hz for shorter distances, sufficient for bin-level or flow sensing but not for high-speed counting.
Enclosure rating is IP66, meaning dust-tight and protected against powerful water jets — suitable for washdown areas or outdoor enclosures provided the cable entry is sealed. The PVC cable leads are 2 meters long; termination is direct wiring into a terminal block or conduit. Body is plastic (PBT), which eliminates corrosion concerns in wet or chemical environments.
