Omron E2K-X15MY1 is a capacitive proximity sensor from the E2K-X series, built to detect materials through non-metallic walls or containers without contact. It runs on 90-250 V AC with an SCR output wired normally open, so it's a direct replacement for AC control circuits. The 15 mm sensing distance is unshielded, meaning it can be flush- or non-flush-mounted—plan for the full 15 mm if embedding into a steel bracket. Rated to IP66 and NEMA 1/4/12/13, so it handles washdown and dust without a secondary enclosure. Plastic body, 2 m prewired cable with bare ends—no connector to source separately. No sensitivity adjustment needed (the series feature), which cuts commissioning time. Just mount, power up, and verify the target presence. The SCR output can switch up to 200 mA resistive load—keep that in mind for PLC inputs or small contactors.
How it compares to the E2K-X15ME1
For smaller barrels—12 mm diameter and 4 mm range—the E2K-X4MY1 (NO) or E2K-X4MY2 (NC) will not drop into the same drilled hole given the different diameter. Stick to the 30 mm footprint if your panel is already cut for it.
30 mm cylindrical body with unshielded sensing face. 2 m prewired cable, supply 90-250 V AC, SCR NO output, max 200 mA. IP66 and NEMA 4/12/13 rating means you can install in washdown zones or dusty areas without an extra enclosure, as long as the cable entry is properly sealed.
