Omron E2K-X4MY1 is a 12 mm cylindrical capacitive proximity sensor from the E2K-X series. It detects non-metallic targets such as plastics, liquids, or wood at a maximum distance of 4 mm — no sensitivity adjustment required, so the detection threshold is fixed from the factory. Rated IP66 with NEMA 4, 12, and 13 enclosures, it holds up in washdown environments or outdoor panels.
Ratings and wiring notes
Supply is 90-250V AC only — this is an AC sensor, not DC rated. The output is a 2-wire SCR (thyristor) normally-open circuit, max load current 200 mA. Because it’s an SCR, expect leakage current typical of thyristors; verify your PLC input can handle that. For DC control circuits you’ll need an interface relay or a different sensor like the DC PNP E2K-X8MF1. The 2 m prewired cable exits the sensor body; bare ends for termination. No sensitivity pots — the fixed threshold eliminates field tuning. The plastic body is 80 mm tall and unshielded, so mounted in steel you may get some range reduction; test in your target material.
Why not the E2K-X4MY2?
The E2K-X4MY2 is mechanically identical — same 12 mm body, same 4 mm sensing range, same SCR AC output — but its contact form is normally-closed instead of normally-open. If your application requires a fail-safe closed loop that opens on detection, the MY2 drops in without any panel rework beyond wiring the NC contact. For NO logic, stick with the MY1.
