Omron E2K-X8ME1 — Capacitive, 8mm, NPN, No-Trimmer
The Omron E2K-X8ME1 is a cylindrical capacitive proximity sensor from the E2K-X series, built for non-contact detection of both conductive and non-conductive materials. It delivers an 8mm maximum sensing distance (unshielded) with a standard 3-wire NPN normally-open output, operating from 10-30V DC and sinking up to 200mA. The plastic cylindrical body measures 18mm in diameter and 80mm in height, with a 2m prewired bare cable term. Rated IP66 and NEMA 1/4/12/13, it handles wet and dusty conditions without problem. One standout is the no-sensitivity-adjustment feature — factory fixed, so commissioning is a mount-and-go task without a trimmer setting.
Fit & Interface — What the Ratings Mean
The 8mm detection range (unshielded) is the maximum for a flat target; derate for non-metallic or smaller targets, but the sensitivity is fixed at factory. For level, plastic-hopper, or liquid presence in non-conductive containers, the capacitor responds to dielectric change — no tuning needed. Wiring is standard 3-wire DC: brown to +10-30V DC, blue to 0V, black NPN normally-open output sinks to 0V when target is present. The 200mA load maximum per channel suits most PLC digital inputs or DC relays directly.
