What this sensor does
The Omron E2KC25MF2 is a 34 mm-diameter cylindrical capacitive sensor from the E2K-C series, rated for a 25 mm sensing distance with a PNP normally-closed output at 10-30 VDC and 200 mA maximum load current. It switches at up to 70 Hz, so it's fine for moderate-speed detection of liquids, plastics, grains, or other non-metallic materials through container walls. The NC output means the load is powered when no target is present; the sensor opens on detection. That's useful for fail-safe level or jam detection. Adjustable sensitivity (via the included driver) lets you dial in the range on-site. IP66 and NEMA 1, 12, 13, 4 ratings mean it handles washdown, dust, and occasional hose spray—common in food, packaging, or bulk-material handling. The pre-wired 2 m cable and bare-wire termination simplifies panel wiring.
How it compares and sourcing
If your BOM called for a photoelectric sensor like the Omron E3FA-TP112M (through-beam) or E3FA-LP112M (diffuse), this capacitive sensor is a different animal. Capacitive detects changes in dielectric, not light reflection; it sees through non-metallic containers and senses liquids or bulk solids. The E3FA sensors are M18 threaded plastic bodies with a right-angle face, while the E2KC25MF2 is a 34 mm smooth cylinder with a front face. No direct electrical or mechanical interchange—different mounting, wiring, and sensing principle. If your application needs capacitive detection, this is the part; if it needs photoelectric, keep looking at the E3FA line. This part carries CCC, CE, and cULus marks—documentation available with the RFQ. It's a standard Omron catalog item; we can source it against your order. Send an RFQ with quantity and delivery window, and I'll get you a firm quote.
