What it is
The Omron E32T22S2M is a member of the E32 series of fibre optic sensors, configured as a through-beam pair with a 2 m pigtail cable already attached at the head. It carries the E32-series form factor and termination style that Omron's photo-eye line has standardized on for panel-mount and bracket-mount detection tasks. Fibre optic sensors in this class sit at the field end of a photo-electric amplifier, used where the target is small, fast, or in a tight space where a conventional photo-eye cannot physically fit — the fibre cable carries the light to and from the sensing point while the amplifier handles gain and switching.
Where this class lives in a panel
E32-series fibre tips are paired with a remote amplifier module that mounts on DIN rail and supplies the drive current; the fibre head itself is bracket-mounted at the sensing point, with the cable returning to the amplifier through standard cable duct. The amplifier handles the switching output back to the PLC, so the head has no fieldbus address of its own. Through-beam pairs detect opaque targets that break the light beam between emitter and receiver fibres, which is the standard pick for small-part detection on conveyors, edge-sensing on webs, and registration-mark reads where reflective-mode sensors would false-trigger on shiny backgrounds.
