The Omron E3ASF1500IMTM3OMS is a reflective photoelectric sensor using a laser diode for sensing up to 1.5 m, with PNP output and IP69K protection for washdown environments. Covers 50 mm to 1.5 m with a 150 ms response time — suited for presence detection of slow-moving or stationary objects on a line, not for high-speed counting. The M8 4-pin connector and 10–30 VDC supply match common automation backbone voltages. Light-ON / Dark-ON selectable via wiring.

Comparison to the E3Z Family
The E3ZB86OMS (retro-reflective, red LED, 500 mm) and E3ZLR86OMS (retro-reflective, red laser, 7 m) use a reflector and have a different sensing principle — not a functional substitute for a diffuse reflective sensor. Footprint differs: E3ASF1500IMTM3OMS is 11.4 mm wide × 38 mm tall; the E3Z peers measure 10.8 mm × 31 mm. Rewiring and a different mounting bracket are required for a swap. Response time on the E3Z (1 ms) is far faster than the E3AS (150 ms) — if the application needs sub-10 ms detection, the E3Z is the better starting point, but only if the sensing mode (retro-reflective with reflector) is acceptable.
Integration Note
IP67 and IP69K certified — survives the daily CIP cycle with hot caustic and high-pressure spray. No exposed fasteners on the sensor body; the M8 connector face should be oriented downward to drain. Operates from -20°C to 55°C ambient. PNP sourcing at 100 mA max directly drives a PLC input or small valve without an interposing relay.
