300 mm diffuse sensing — how it behaves on the line
The E3F1DP22OMI: 300 mm sensing distance on a diffuse reflective sensor means it detects the target by the light returning from the object itself — no separate reflector or receiver to align. That 300 mm is the maximum for a standard white card; real-world range on a dark or angled target will be shorter, so budget 200–250 mm for reliable detection on a dark plastic or painted metal part. The red LED light source (visible) makes alignment easy during commissioning — you see the spot on the target. No need for a laser alignment tool or a darkroom. 500 µs response time means it can catch parts passing at line speeds up to roughly 2 m/s without missing a beat, assuming a 1 mm target edge. That covers most conveyor and packaging applications.
Wiring and mounting — M12 connector, PNP, Light-ON / Dark-ON
M12 4-pin connector — mates with standard M12 cordsets. No pigtail to strip; swap a failed sensor in under a minute without opening the panel. Light-ON / Dark-ON selectable via the wiring or a DIP (depending on variant) — one sensor covers both presence and absence detection without a second part number on the BOM.
IP66 and 34.5 mm body — panel fit and washdown duty
IP66 rating means it handles hose-down cleaning and outdoor splashing — fine for food processing zones that are not direct high-pressure spray. Not rated for submersion or IP69K steam cleaning. 34.5 mm length, cylindrical body — mounts in standard 18 mm or 30 mm brackets with the appropriate clamp. Fits the same footprint as many M18 tubular sensors, so it drops into existing mounting holes on a retrofit. 10–30 VDC operating range — runs on standard 24 VDC control power without a separate supply rail. The wide tolerance handles voltage drop on long cable runs.
