The Omron E3F2-R4C4 is a cylindrical photoelectric switch in an 18 mm M18 threaded housing, pre-wired with a 10-30V DC supply. Output is NPN, wired for Dark-ON operation — it switches when the light path is interrupted. Sensing distance is 0.1 to 4 m, with an IP67 rating for washdown areas.
How It Compares: E3FB-TP112M
The closest functional modern peer is the E3FB-TP112M from the E3FB series. Both share M18 diameter, 10-30V DC supply, 100 mA load cap, and IP67. The E3FB-TP112M, however, uses a PNP output with selectable Light-On or Dark-On, and reaches 20 m sensing range. It also adds IP69K and reverse-polarity protection — meaningful if you need a stronger washdown rating or flexible switching logic. The E3F2-R4C4 will not drop in as a direct swap if the panel was wired for a PNP sensor or expects Light-On logic. Rewiring the NPN output and confirming Dark-On operation is required. The mechanical fit (M18 thread, 2 m cable) is identical.
