What it is and what it does
The Omron E3FADP25F2OMS is a diffuse reflective photoelectric sensor from the E3FA series. It detects objects by sensing the reflection of its own infrared LED beam, with a rated sensing distance of 300 mm. The PNP output switches up to 100 mA at 10–30 VDC, with a fast 500 µs response time. Light-ON / Dark-ON mode is selectable via wiring, giving flexibility for background or foreground detection. Housing is 16.6 mm wide × 45 mm long with an M12 connector. Rated IP67 and IP69K for washdown environments.
How it compares to the E3S-C series
The E3S-C diffuse models measure 29.5 mm × 40.4 mm × 75 mm and respond at 1 ms. This E3FA is 16.6 mm × 45 mm with 500 µs response, and fixed PNP output. The E3S-C has a 700 mm sensing range (more than double), but for the majority of close-proximity detection tasks — presence of parts on a conveyor, container fill level, or label registration — 300 mm is sufficient. Validate the actual object reflectivity; the rated distance assumes a standard white paper target.
Mounting and wiring notes
Mount via through-hole or optional bracket. The M12 connector allows quick connection. Supply 10–30 VDC; select Light-ON or Dark-ON mode by wiring. Orient the sensor so the diffuse emitter/receiver window faces the target without obstruction. The IP69K rating holds when the M12 connector is properly torqued (hand-tight plus a quarter turn with a wrench). Do not exceed 55 °C ambient — the infrared emitter output decreases steadily above that temperature, reducing effective range.
