The Omron E3FB-DN23 is an M18 threaded cylindrical diffuse photoelectric sensor with a 1 m sensing distance for opaque objects. It operates on 10-30 V DC and provides an NPN output with selectable light-on or dark-on switching. The 1 m diffuse range is the maximum for a standard 7 mm opaque target — real-world detection depends on reflectivity and background. The 0.5 ms response time keeps up with most conveyor and packaging lines. The NPN output sinks up to 100 mA; verify your PLC input card can source that current. The supply voltage tolerates 10-30 V DC with reverse polarity and short circuit protection built in, which reduces the risk of a field failure from a swapped wire.
