The Omron E3S-AD11 is a diffuse-reflective photoelectric sensor — it detects objects by sensing the light reflected from the target itself, so no separate receiver is needed. Its NPN open-collector output switches at 30 VDC max and the switching output is selectable between Light-ON and Dark-ON via wiring. The cable connection (standard length) mates directly to a terminal block or M12 pigtail, per the datasheet termination details. Rated for ambient temperatures from -25 to 55°C, suited for indoor industrial environments without severe washdown requirements.
Comparison to E3Z-LT81
The E3Z-LT81 is a through-beam sensor (separate emitter and receiver) with a detection range of 60 m and a red laser diode source. It requires two mounting positions and alignment, whereas the E3S-AD11 is a single-unit diffuse-reflective sensor. The power supply for the LT81 is 12–24 VDC, while the AD11 runs at 30 VDC. They are not electrically or mechanically interchangeable — the mounting footprint, wiring, and sensing principle differ. For a panel originally specified around the E3Z-LT81, the E3S-AD11 would not drop in without rewiring and repositioning.
