Sensor at a glance
The Omron E3S-AR66 from the E3S-A series is a retroreflective sensor giving you a 2m sensing distance down a conveyor zone. Output is NPN, selectable between dark-on and light-on via a two-turn endless adjuster with an indicator — handy when you need to flip logic without rewiring. The 500µs response time keeps up with typical accumulation speeds, and the NEMA 4X / IP67 enclosure lets you mount it on washdown zones without extra protection. Supply is 10–30 VDC.
Mounting and setup notes
The sensor uses a connector — no pigtail — so you'll need a mating cable with the matching pinout. The two-turn adjuster with a pointer indicator simplifies alignment: set the reflector, run the adjuster until the indicator shows a clean switch. Dark-on mode works well for presence detection (block beam = output on), light-on for missing-object or edge sensing. Temperature range -25°C to 55°C covers most indoor conveyor environments.
