The Omron E3S-CD12 is a diffuse photoelectric sensor from the E3S-C series, rated for 2 m sensing distance with selectable NPN/PNP output and IP67 enclosure.
The 2 m diffuse range is a practical maximum for standard diffuse sensors; actual detection depends on target reflectivity. The selectable NPN/PNP output lets you match the PLC input card without an external converter. IP67 and NEMA 6P ratings mean the sensor handles washdown environments. Response time is 2 msec, adequate for most conveyor and packaging lines. The prewired 2 m cable carries power and output; the output configuration (light-on/dark-on, NPN/PNP) is set by wiring, not DIP switches.
