The E3S-CT11-L is a through-beam photoelectric sensor with a 30 m sensing range — covers long conveyor spans, warehouse aisles, or automated guided vehicle approach zones. A 15 mm opaque object breaks the beam, and the output switches within 1 ms. That's fast enough for high-speed counting or reject gating on a packaging line. Output is NPN/PNP selectable with Light-ON/Dark-ON switching, so it adapts to both sinking and sourcing PLC inputs without an interface relay. Power supply is 10-30 VDC with reverse polarity protection; the output is short-circuit protected. No extra clamp diode needed on the load.
Where the value is
30 m through-beam is overkill for a 3 m pallet tunnel. Before you lock this in, ask: what's the longest axis you actually need? If the answer is under 10 m, there's a cheaper sensor in the family — but the E3S-CT11-L is the one to pick when margin for alignment drift matters and you don't want false trips from dust or vibration. The 3° to 15° beam angle means emitter and receiver alignment is forgiving; you don't need a laser bore-sight for setup. Pair it with the pre-wired 2 m cable or the M12 connector option (0.3 m pigtail).
