The Omron E3S-DS30B4 is a diffuse-reflective photoelectric switch sensor with a 300 mm sensing range, PNP output, and IP65-rated metal housing. It operates on 12 to 24 VDC and draws 40 mA maximum. A red light indicator and green stability indicator give immediate feedback on output state and signal margin. The switching mode is selectable between light-on and dark-on (L/D) via the wire connection, offering flexibility for different target conditions.
The E3S-DS30B4 covers a 300 mm diffuse range, while the compact E3ZM-LS81H 2M is spec'd for 10 to 100 mm (white paper). That range gap alone makes the E3ZM unsuitable for applications needing longer standoff. The E3S uses a metal housing and PNP output; the E3ZM is plastic with a pre-wired M8 connector and a 5% black/white error. These differences mean the two are not cross-swaps without mechanical and electrical rework.
