The Omron E3SAR36 is a retro-reflective photoelectric sensor from the E3S-A line. It uses a Red LED, talks PNP, and picks up a reflector at 2 m. 500 µs response keeps it fast enough for most part detection on a conveyor. M12 connector, IP67 — sealed up for washdown zones. Lifecycle is current, so I'll take the whole lot and quote you off the RFQ.
Footprint match vs E3SAD36 — but not a straight swap
The E3SAD36 diffuse sibling shares the 12.4 mm width and 21 mm height, so it drops into the same mounting hole pattern. But don't treat them as interchangable on the BOM: the E3SAR36 needs a reflector target (retro mode at 2 m), while the E3SAD36 fires straight at the object (diffuse, 200 mm). If your line was laid out for a retro sensor, the E3SAD36 won't pick up the reflector response — you'd be respacing the whole station. Fast nickel beats slow dime: get the right sensing method first.
Sourcing & lifecycle
Lifecycle status is current — Omron is still running this variant. No last-time-buy clock ticking. Sourcing is straightforward: send the RFQ, we'll confirm availability and lead time. If you're sorting a plant-closure pallet and see a pile of E3SAR36s, the value's in the sort — they move fast to integrators who need a sealed PNP retro for a machine build.
