The Omron E3SAT36 is a photoelectric proximity sensor from the E3S-A series, giving you a PNP output that switches at 500 µs and reaches out 7 m with a red LED. It runs on 10–30 VDC, tolerates -25 to 55 °C, and the M12 connector makes for a secure, quick disconnect in washdown zones — IP67 covers the housing. Light/Dark ON is selectable via the control line, so it'll do both opposed and retroreflective logic without a swap.
M12 Versus Pre-Wired — E3SAT31 vs E3SAT36
The E3SAT31 carries the same sensing guts (7 m, PNP, 500 µs) but terminates with a pre-wired cable instead of an M12 connector. If your panel is laid out for a fixed cable gland, the E3SAT31 drops in without an extra mating cordset. The E3SAT36 suits panels where you want to unplug the sensor during maintenance or swap a damaged cable without rewiring. Same mounting hole pattern, same electrical specs — the decision is purely termination style.
