The Omron E3SAT66D (E3S-AT66-D) is a through-beam photoelectric sensor with a built-in amplifier and red LED light source. It senses 7 m between separate emitter and receiver, making it suitable for part-present detection in conveyor, packaging, and material-handling lines where a clean optical path can be maintained. Operates on 10 … 30 V DC (24 V nominal), draws max. 20 mA. Output is NPN open-collector. Housing is PBT, IP67, connection via M12 connector.
Key ratings versus alternatives
At 7 m, the E3SAT66D is a medium-range through-beam. If your application needs 60 m reach, Omron supplies the E3Z-LT81 (laser, 12-24 V DC, 35 mA total). The E3Z-LT81 uses a Class 1 red laser diode and draws roughly twice the current; it also ships pre-wired (2 m cable) rather than M12. The E3SAT66D's wider voltage tolerance (10-30 V vs. 12-24 V ±10 %) and lower power consumption can simplify supply design in panels that already run 24 V nominal.
Mounting and wiring
Connection via M12 connector; PBT housing. Alignment between emitter and receiver is critical for the 7 m range; the built-in amplifier aids setup.
