Through-beam sensing, current production
The Omron E3SBT31 is a through-beam photoelectric sensor — the emitter and receiver are separate housings, so the beam is broken when an opaque object passes between them. This arrangement gives the longest sensing range and the highest immunity to dust, fog, or surface reflectivity compared to retroreflective or diffuse types.
