What it is and what it handles
The Omron E3SCL2M1J03MOMS is a distance-setting photoelectric sensor from the E3S-C series. It sees objects from 5 mm to 500 mm using an infrared LED and switches both NPN and PNP, so you don't have to rewire the whole cabinet when the PLC card changes. Sealed to IP67, it'll take a washdown and keep going. Pre-wired means no connector fuss out in the grease.
The ratings that matter
The distance-setting action ignores background objects beyond the 500 mm maximum, so you don't get false triggers from a wall or machine frame behind the target. Response time is 2 ms — catches parts on a moderate-speed conveyor line. Operating voltage spans 10 to 30 VDC, and the output sinks or sources up to 100 mA. Temperature range from -25 °C to 55 °C is fine for a washdown area, but keep it away from ovens.
How it compares to close cousins
The E3SCL25MOMS shares the same body (15.4 mm wide, 43.7 mm tall, 40 mm deep) and the same 500 mm sensing range, but comes with a 5-meter cable instead of a pre-wired pigtail. If your existing panel has a pre-wired harness, the E3SCL2M1J03MOMS is a straight mechanical swap; if you need a long whip to the sensor, go with the cable version. The E3SCL15MOMS uses a red LED instead of infrared, cuts the max sensing distance to 200 mm, and speeds response to 1 ms. It also has a cable termination. It's a different sensor for a different job — shorter range, faster detection, different light color.
