What it is and where it lands
Omron E3SLS3PWM3J03M is a limited reflective photoelectric proximity sensor from the E3S series – PNP output, Light-ON switching, with a sensing range of 10 to 60 mm. It runs on 12–24 VDC and can switch loads up to 100 mA. Response time is a quick 1 ms, so it handles fast part detection on pick-and-place or packaging lines. It comes pre-wired with flying leads and is rated IP40 – that means clean, dry indoor spots only. No connector to swap, no extra sealing if you drop it into a dusty or wet cabinet. Dimensions are compact: 19.3 mm wide, 10 mm tall, 34 mm deep. Fits the same bracket footprint as many small photoelectric sensors – good for retrofits in tight conveyor or machine frame spaces.
How it compares to the E3SR36
The most common cross-shop candidate is the Omron E3SR36 – also PNP, also E3S family, but a different package and performance envelope. The E3SLS3PWM3J03M is narrower (19.3 mm vs 29.2 mm), has a shorter range (60 mm vs 1 m), and uses pre-wired leads instead of an M12 connector. Its IP40 rating is strictly indoor, while the E3SR36 carries IP67 for washdown or dusty areas. Switching logic is another split: this sensor is Light-ON only. The E3SR36 can be set to Light-ON or Dark-ON via a selector, which saves an external inverter if your PLC input needs dark mode. The E3SR36 has IP67, M12 connector, 1 m range, and light/dark-ON switching. The E3SLS3PWM3J03M has IP40, pre-wired cable, 60 mm range, and light-ON only.
