What this controller does and where it fits
The E5CC-CQ3A5M-003 is a 1/16 DIN process and temperature controller that accepts RTD and thermocouple types B, E, J, K, L, N, PLII, R, S, T, U, W, plus 0-20 mA and 0-10 VDC linear inputs — so it covers everything from a -200°C cryo bath to a 2300°C furnace on one part number. Three relay outputs handle on/off or alarm functions, the analog output drives a valve or SCR power controller, and the voltage pulse output fires an external SSR for fast heater cycling. That mix means you can close the loop on a single controller without adding a signal conditioner or interposing relay. RS-485 with both CompoWay/F and Modbus protocols ties directly into a plant SCADA or PLC network — no gateway module needed between the controller and the control room.
Panel fit and washdown rating
The 45.00 mm x 45.00 mm square cutout matches the standard E5CC footprint — drops into any panel already punched for this series without rework. Screw terminals mean no special crimp tool on the wireman's bench. IP66 front panel rating keeps washdown spray out of the electronics — suitable for food, beverage, or pharmaceutical panels where the controller face sees a hose. Operating range is -10°C to 55°C ambient, so it lives inside a warm panel without derating.
Heater fault detection — what it saves you
Built-in heater fault detection monitors the load current through a separate CT (not included) and flags a broken heater or SSR short before the process drifts. That saves the cost and panel space of an external current monitor and the wiring to a discrete alarm input. For a multi-zone oven or extruder barrel, one controller per zone with this feature means the maintenance team sees exactly which zone dropped out — no chasing a blown fuse across twenty zones.
