What this controller brings to a panel
The E5CC-CQ3D5M-003 is a 1/16 DIN process and temperature controller from Omron's E5CC series, accepting RTD and thermocouple types B, E, J, K, L, N, PLII, R, S, T, U, W as well as linear 0–20 mA and 0–10 VDC signals. It runs on a universal 24 VAC/DC supply, so it fits panels where only a low-voltage control transformer or DC bus is available — no need to pull a separate 100–240 VAC feed. The output stage gives you three relay outputs for on/off or alarm functions, one analog output for driving a valve or SCR power controller, and a voltage pulse output for an external SSR — enough flexibility to handle most single-loop heating or cooling applications without adding auxiliary modules.
PID tuning and heater diagnostics built in
Control method is selectable between On/Off and proportional-integral-derivative (PID) with auto-tuning, so you can start with a simple bang-bang loop and move to PID once the process is stable. The heater fault detection feature monitors current draw on the load and flags an alarm if the heater opens or degrades — a real time-saver when you're troubleshooting a mold or oven that's not reaching setpoint. RS-485 communications support both Omron's CompoWay/F protocol and standard Modbus, letting you pull PV, SV, and alarm status into a PLC or SCADA without a separate gateway.
Panel fit and environmental sealing
Mounts in a standard 45 mm x 45 mm square panel cutout — the same footprint as every other E5CC variant — so swapping between models doesn't require re-punching the panel. The front panel carries an IP66 rating, meaning it's dust-tight and protected against hose-directed water. That makes it suitable for food-processing or washdown zones where a standard IP20 controller would fail.
It ships in bulk packaging, which is typical for OEM quantities; if you need individual boxes for MRO stock, confirm at quote time.
