What this controller does
The Omron E5CC-QX2DSM-800 is a process and temperature controller from the E5CC series, accepting inputs from RTD and thermocouple types B, E, J, K, L, N, PLII, R, S, T, U, W, plus 0–20 mA and 0–10 VDC process signals, covering a span from -200°C to 2300°C. It runs on a 24 VAC/DC supply and delivers two relay outputs plus a voltage pulse output for driving an external SSR, giving you the flexibility to switch a contactor or fire a solid-state relay directly. Control is On/Off or full PID, with a dual-color backlit LCD showing four characters per row — the top row at 0.600" (15.20 mm) and the bottom at 0.280" (7.10 mm) — readable from across a panel.
Panel-mount unit fits a standard 45.00 mm x 45.00 mm square cutout and secures with screw terminals. The IP66-rated front face is dust-tight and water-resistant, so it handles washdown zones in food or beverage lines without an extra cover. Keep it within that range for reliable PID loop stability.
What the outputs mean for your wiring
Two relay outputs handle direct switching of small loads like contactor coils or indicator lamps. The voltage (SSR) output is a pulsed signal for an external solid-state relay — that is the common way to drive a heater element or a larger load without wearing out mechanical contacts. Strip length around 8 mm keeps the connection clean under the cage clamp.
