What this controller handles
The E5CC-QX3D5M-005 is an active-production Omron E5CC-series panel-mount controller that reads RTD and thermocouple types B, E, J, K, L, N, PLII, R, S, T, U, W, plus 0–20 mA and 0–10 VDC process signals — so it covers the full range of temperature and linear process inputs without needing a separate signal conditioner. It runs on 24 VAC/DC, which makes it a natural fit for panels that already carry a 24 V control bus — no need to pull a separate 100–240 VAC feed just for the controller.
Outputs and control loop
Three relay outputs handle the main load, alarm, or event functions, and a voltage pulse output drives an external SSR directly — so you get the switching life of a solid-state output without giving up the mechanical relay isolation for the other channels. Control method is selectable between on/off and proportional (PID) with autotune, so the same part works for simple tank-level or overtemp protection and for closed-loop temperature regulation on a plastic extruder or oven zone. An event input is built in — you can use it to switch the controller between two setpoints, reset the latch, or trigger a run/hold from a PLC dry contact without adding an external module.
The front face carries an IP66 rating — dust-tight and protected against hose-down — so it can live on a washdown panel or a food-processing cabinet without a separate cover. Panel cutout is a standard 45 mm square, and the screw terminals accept the field wiring directly — no adapter or socket needed for the 24 VAC/DC supply or the output circuits. The dual-color LCD backlight shows two rows of four characters each, with the process value in 15.2 mm digits and the setpoint or parameter in 7.1 mm — readable from a few metres across a machine cell.
The closest functional sibling in the E5CC family is the E5CC-QX3A5M-001, which shares the same input type, output configuration, and form factor but runs on 100–240 VAC instead of 24 VAC/DC — so if your panel bus is line voltage, that variant saves you a power supply.
