The Omron E5CC-RX2ASM-001 is a panel-mount process temperature controller from the E5CC series, accepting inputs from RTD and thermocouple types B, E, J, K, L, N, PLII, R, S, T, U, W, plus 0–20 mA or 0–10 VDC process signals. That range covers everything from cryogenic -200°C up to 2300°C, so one part number handles most furnace, oven, or extruder zones without swapping hardware. Control is On/Off or proportional (PID), and the three relay outputs drive contactors, solenoids, or alarm circuits directly. The dual-color LCD shows two rows of four characters each — process value on top, setpoint below — with 0.600" and 0.280" character heights respectively, readable from a few feet away on a panel. The front bezel carries an IP66 rating, meaning it withstands hose-down cleaning in food or washdown environments. The 45 mm square panel cutout is the standard 1/16 DIN footprint, so it retrofits into existing panel holes without rework.
Heater fault detection and event input
Built-in heater fault detection monitors the load current via an external CT and flags a broken heater or SSR short before the process drifts. The event input lets a PLC or limit switch remotely switch between two setpoints or start/stop control — useful for recipe changeovers or interlock override. Compared to the E5CC-QX3A5M-5800U which swaps one relay for a voltage pulse output to drive an external SSR, this RX2ASM-001 keeps all three outputs as dry relay contacts. If your load is a contactor or alarm, the relay version is the cleaner fit; if you are switching a resistive heater through an SSR, the QX variant saves an external interface.
