What the control loop needs to see
The E5CC-TCX3A5M-004 is a 1/16 DIN process and temperature controller from the Omron E5CC-T series, accepting RTD, thermocouple (B, E, J, K, L, N, PLII, R, S, T, U, W), 0-20mA, or 0-10VDC inputs across a span of -200°C to 2300°C or the full analog range. Its output stage combines one analog output with three relay outputs, so the analog channel can drive a SSR or valve positioner while the relays handle alarm, event, or secondary heater stages. The front panel carries an IP66 seal — dust-tight and water-resistant — suitable for washdown zones in food, beverage, or pharmaceutical lines where panel splash is routine.
Supply, comms, and the event input
Powered from 100-240VAC, the controller fits line voltages common across industrial panels without a separate step-down transformer. RS-485 with CompoWay/F and Modbus protocol is onboard, so the controller joins a PLC or SCADA network directly — no external gateway needed for setpoint writes or process data reads. The event input allows an external dry contact to force a preconfigured action (run/hold, auto/manual, setpoint switch) without reaching into the menu, useful for remote start or recipe change.
Panel cutout and termination
Screw-terminal connections on the rear for all inputs, outputs, and power — no special crimp tool or connector kit required; a #2 Pozidriv driver is all the panel shop needs. The dual-color LCD backlight shows two rows of four characters each, with the upper row at 0.600" height for the process value and the lower at 0.280" for setpoint or status — readable across a machine bay.
