What this controller covers — and what it doesn't
The Omron E5CC-TQQ3A5M-006 accepts RTD and thermocouple types B, E, J, K, L, N, PLII, R, S, T, U, W, plus linear 0-20mA and 0-10VDC signals — so it handles everything from a -200°C cryo bath to a 2300°C furnace on one unit. The input range is wide enough that you don't need a separate model for high-temp vs low-temp zones. Control method is On/Off or full PID with auto-tune, which means you can use it for simple tank-level thermostats or for closed-loop oven profiling. The PID loop is the default choice for most process lines; On/Off is there for applications where overshoot doesn't matter.
Outputs and supply — what connects where
Three relay outputs handle the main load switching (heater contactor, alarm, or event) and two voltage outputs drive external SSRs for faster cycling. That mix means you can run a contactor for the main heater and a solid-state relay for fine trim control from the same controller — no need for an add-on module. Supply is 100-240VAC, so it drops straight into a standard panel transformer without a separate 24V supply. The screw terminals are the termination style — no spring-clamp option on this variant, so factor in the screwdriver time if your shop standard is push-in. The event input lets an external dry contact trigger a pre-set setpoint or PID group change. Useful for recipe switching or a door-interlock override without reaching into the menu.
Panel cutout is a standard 45mm square — fits the same hole as every other 1/16 DIN controller on the market. The IP66 front panel means it survives washdown spray from the panel face, so it's fine on a food-grade line or in a wet grinding area as long as the rear enclosure is dry. The dual-color LCD shows four characters per row in two rows — 0.600" for the process value, 0.280" for the setpoint — so you can read the PV from across a machine.
