What this controller accepts and drives
The E5EC-CQ4A5M-011 is an Omron E5EC-series process/temperature controller that reads RTD, thermocouple (Types B, E, J, K, L, N, PLII, R, S, T, U, W), 0-20 mA, or 0-10 VDC inputs across a span from -200°C to 2300°C. It drives the load through a mixed output stage: one analog output for retransmission or valve positioning, four relay outputs for on/off or alarm functions, and a voltage output for an external SSR. Control logic is selectable between simple on/off and full PID with auto-tune — the PID loop handles most thermal processes without external ramp/soak programming.
Panel fit and environmental sealing
Panel-mount form factor with a 92 mm x 45 mm rectangular cutout, secured by screw terminals on the rear — no DIN rail, so plan the panel layout around that footprint. The front face carries an IP66 rating, meaning it withstands hose-down and dust ingress from the panel side — suitable for food, beverage, or washdown zones where the controller is mounted on the cabinet door. Operating range is -10°C to 55°C ambient; the LCD tri-color backlight with 18 mm, 11 mm, and 7.8 mm character heights gives readable status from a few metres away on the line.
Built-in diagnostics for heater circuits
Heater fault detection monitors the load current via an external CT and flags a broken heater or SSR short before the process drifts — a feature that saves a line-down event on electric ovens, extruders, or heat-seal stations. The event input lets an external dry contact switch between two setpoints or initiate a hold/run — useful for recipe changeover without entering the menu.
