What this controller brings to the panel
The Omron E5EC-CQ4D5M-009 is a 1/16 DIN process and temperature controller that accepts RTD and a wide range of thermocouples (B, E, J, K, L, N, PLII, R, S, T, U, W) plus analog inputs of 0–20 mA or 0–10 VDC, covering the full span from -200°C to 2300°C. Its mixed output set — one analog channel, four relay outputs, and a voltage pulse for external SSR — means you can drive a heater directly through the SSR output, send a retransmission signal to a PLC or recorder via the analog output, and still have four relay contacts for alarms or on/off stages. The RS-485 port speaks both CompoWay/F and Modbus, so it drops into most existing fieldbus architectures without a protocol converter.
Control method and key features
Control method is selectable between on/off and proportional (PID), so it handles simple level control or tight temperature regulation depending on the loop. Built-in heater fault detection monitors current draw and flags a broken heater or SSR short — a useful diagnostic for electric furnaces, ovens, and extruder zones where an undetected heater failure ruins a batch. The event input accepts a dry-contact or solid-state signal to switch between preset sets of PID parameters, remote setpoint, or run/hold — handy for recipe changes without touching the front panel.
Panel mount with a rectangular cutout of 92.00 mm × 45.00 mm and screw terminals for field wiring. The front panel carries an IP66 rating, meaning it withstands hose-down and dust ingress; suitable for food-processing, washdown, or outdoor enclosures where the controller face is exposed.
