The Omron E5EC-CQ4D5M-011 is a panel-mount process and temperature controller that handles RTD, thermocouple types B, E, J, K, L, N, PLII, R, S, T, U, W, plus 0–20 mA and 0–10 VDC analog inputs. It runs on 24 VAC/DC and delivers a mixed output set: four relays, one analog signal, and a voltage output for an external SSR. That output mix makes it a good fit for a panel where you need to drive a contactor or solenoid (relay), send a 4–20 mA retransmission to a recorder or PLC analog input, and fire an SSR for electric heating — all from one controller.
The input range spans -200°C to 2300°C for thermocouples, which covers cryogenic-level RTD monitoring up through high-temp furnace work with type R or S thermocouples. The 0–20 mA and 0–10 VDC analog input capability means it can also read pressure transmitters, flow meters, or level sensors — so this controller can serve as a general-purpose loop controller, not just a temperature station. The IP66 front-panel rating means the face and bezel hold up to washdown spray and dust ingress. For a food-and-beverage or pharmaceutical panel where the enclosure gets hosed down, this controller can mount directly in the panel door without a separate protective cover, as long as the gasket is intact. The LCD display shows three rows of four characters each, with tri-color backlighting (the characters themselves change color). The largest digits are 18 mm high, readable from across a control room aisle. The color change can be mapped to alarm conditions — red for high temp, green for normal — which cuts down operator scan time on a multi-zone panel.
Panel cutout is rectangular, 92.00 mm × 45.00 mm — the standard 1/4 DIN size. The mounting bracket and gasket are included; the controller slides in from the front and clamps from behind. Screw-terminal connections on the back accept up to 14 AWG for power and output wiring. Heater fault detection (listed as a feature) uses an external current transformer (CT) to sense current through the heater load and flags a broken heater or failed SSR. The event input can be wired to a dry contact for remote run/hold or alarm reset, saving a panel space that would otherwise need a separate pushbutton station.
