The E5EC-CX4A5M-013 accepts RTD and thermocouple types B, E, J, K, L, N, PLII, R, S, T, U, W, plus 0-20 mA and 0-10 VDC linear inputs — covering the full range from cryogenic to 2300°C furnace work. The -200°C to 2300°C span means one controller handles both a -80°C freezer and a 2000°C kiln loop, reducing the spare parts count in a mixed-process panel.
Outputs and control loop for valve or drive actuation
Four relay outputs plus an analog output let the controller drive a contactor for heater on/off and a 4-20 mA positioner for a modulating valve on the same loop — no external signal conditioner needed.
Panel fit and environmental sealing
The 92.00 mm x 45.00 mm rectangular cutout matches the standard E5EC footprint — no adapter plate needed for a DIN 43700 panel opening. IP66 rating on the front means the controller survives washdown spray in food or pharma lines; the screw terminals on the back are panel-side and not exposed to the wet zone. The tri-color LCD backlight (green, orange, red) lets an operator see a deviation alarm from across the line without walking to the panel — the 18.00 mm top row is legible at 3 m.
Sourcing and lifecycle for BOM planning
The event input allows an external dry contact to trigger a pre-set ramp/soak profile or a hold step, which is useful for batch processes where a recipe change is initiated by a limit switch or PLC digital out.
