Mixed output bank for heater and process control
The E5EC-QQ4A5M-010 carries four relay outputs and two voltage outputs for driving external SSRs. This split lets you switch contactors or alarms with the relays while using the voltage outputs for phase-angle or zero-cross SCR power packs on heating zones. Heater fault detection is built in — no separate current transformer module needed for monitoring open-element or shorted-SCR conditions on resistive loads. The event input (digital) can latch a second setpoint, trigger a PID auto-tune, or hold the output during a safety interlock, all without extra I/O wiring back to the PLC.
Sensor input flexibility and control method
The universal input accepts RTD (Pt100) and 14 thermocouple types (B, E, J, K, L, N, PLII, R, S, T, U, W) covering -200°C to 2300°C, plus 0-20 mA and 0-10 VDC process signals. One controller handles both temperature loops and analog process variables like pressure or flow. Control method is selectable between On/Off and proportional-integral-derivative (PID) with auto-tune. The PID algorithm includes anti-reset windup and output limiting — standard for this class but critical when the loop couples to a fast-acting SSR-driven heater.
Panel fit and washdown rating
Panel cutout is 92.00 mm x 45.00 mm — the standard 1/8 DIN size that matches existing punch patterns. The screw-terminal block on the rear accepts up to 14 AWG; no special crimp tool needed. The front panel carries an IP66 rating — dust-tight and protected against hose-directed water. This makes it a direct fit for food-and-beverage washdown zones or outdoor cabinets where a standard IP54 controller would need an additional cover. Supply voltage is 100-240 VAC, covering global line voltages without a transformer tap change or separate power module. Operating ambient is -10°C to 55°C, so it lives inside a non-conditioned panel in most plant-floor environments.
