Controller type and sensor input range
The Omron E5EC-QR4D5M-009 is a 1/8 DIN process and temperature controller accepting RTD and thermocouple types B, E, J, K, L, N, PLII, R, S, T, U, W, plus 0–20 mA or 0–10 VDC linear process signals. The input range spans -200°C to 2300°C for temperature sensors, covering most industrial furnace, oven, and process heating loops without needing a separate signal conditioner. It belongs to the E5EC series, Omron's mid-range 1/8 DIN platform with a tri-color LCD backlight that changes color on alarm or event — useful for spotting a loop in trouble from across the panel.
Supply voltage and panel wiring
Powered by 24 VAC/DC — a single supply rail that works in both AC- and DC-powered cabinets. The screw-terminal block accepts the field wiring directly; no separate power module is needed. The panel cutout is rectangular, 92.00 mm x 45.00 mm, the standard 1/8 DIN footprint. The IP66-rated front bezel seals against dust and water jets, so the controller can be mounted on a washdown panel face without a secondary cover.
Outputs, communications, and control logic
Five relay outputs and one voltage pulse output for an external SSR give this unit the flexibility to drive contactors, solenoids, or a solid-state relay directly. The control method is selectable between On/Off and full PID with auto-tune. RS-485 communications support both CompoWay/F and Modbus protocols, so it integrates into most PLC or SCADA networks without a protocol converter. The event input can be wired to a remote pushbutton or PLC digital output to trigger a pre-set setpoint change or run/hold command. Heater fault detection is built in — it monitors the current draw of the heater load via an external CT and flags a broken heater or SSR short before the process drifts out of tolerance.
