Panel-fit and supply — 24 V bus, 92×45 mm cutout
The Omron E5EC-QX2DBM-010 is a 1/8 DIN temperature controller that runs on a 24 VAC/DC supply — common on control panels where a single 24 V bus powers the PLC, HMI, and loop controllers. The rectangular 92.00 mm × 45.00 mm panel cutout matches the standard E5EC footprint, so it drops into an existing cutout without rework. Spring terminals mean no screw-torque checks during install; the cage holds solid or ferruled stranded wire and stands up to vibration on a machine panel door.
Input flexibility and output mix
The controller accepts RTD, thermocouple types B, E, J, K, L, N, PLII, R, S, T, U, W, plus 0–20 mA and 0–10 VDC analog signals — covering most process sensors without needing a signal conditioner. The input range spans -200°C to 2300°C for thermocouples, so it handles both cryogenic and high-temp furnace loops. Outputs are three relay contacts for on/off or alarm functions, plus two voltage outputs to drive external SSRs — useful when you need to switch a larger heater bank through a solid-state relay rather than directly through the controller's internal relay. Heater fault detection is built in — it monitors current draw on the load side and flags a broken heater or SSR short before the process drifts. That saves a line-down event on a plastic extruder or packaging sealer.
Control modes and display
Control method is selectable between On/Off and proportional (PID) with auto-tune — the PID loop handles most thermal processes, while On/Off is simpler for overtemperature alarms or tank-level heating where overshoot is acceptable. The tri-color LCD backlight shows three rows of four characters each, with character heights of 0.710", 0.433", and 0.307" — the largest row is readable from across a panel for the process value (PV). IP66 rating on the front panel means the controller survives washdown in food, beverage, or pharmaceutical lines — the gasket seals the display and keys, not just the enclosure.
