What it fits — the E5EC-QX2DBM-011 in a panel
The E5EC-QX2DBM-011 is a 1/16 DIN-size temperature controller from Omron's E5EC series. It accepts a wide range of sensor inputs — RTD and thermocouple types B, E, J, K, L, N, PLII, R, S, T, U, W — covering the full spread from cryogenic to furnace work. The input range spans -200°C to 2300°C, plus linear 0–20 mA and 0–10 VDC signals, so it handles most process loops without a signal conditioner. Control method is On/Off or full PID — the PID loop auto-tunes on demand, which saves time during commissioning on a new oven or oven zone.
Outputs that matter on a line-down swap
Three relay outputs handle the main load, alarm, or event functions. Two voltage-pulse outputs drive external SSRs directly — no interposing relay needed for the heating element call. Heater fault detection is built in. It monitors the load current through a separate CT input and flags a broken heater or SSR short before the process drifts. That feature alone can save a production batch on a temperature-critical line. Compared to the E5EC-RX2DBM-010 (four relay outputs, no voltage outputs), the QX2DBM-011 trades one relay for two SSR-drive channels — essential if the downstream contactor bank uses DC-switched SSRs.
Panel mount with a 92.00 mm x 45.00 mm rectangular cutout. Spring-terminal connections on the back. The front bezel is rated IP66 — dust-tight and protected against hose-down. That means it can sit on a washdown panel face in a food plant or a wet grinding area without a cover. The tri-color LCD backlight shows four characters per row across three rows — process value, setpoint, and status in one glance.
