What the output config means for your loop
The E5EC-QX4A5M-011: Four relay outputs plus a voltage pulse output for an external SSR — that gives you a main heat/cool pair, an alarm, and a spare relay, with the SSR drive handling fast-switching loads like a solid-state contactor. The voltage output is sized for Omron's G3PA or G3NE series SSRs; the relays are rated for general-purpose on/off control of contactors or solenoid valves. The heater fault detection feature monitors current draw on the load side via an external CT — it flags a broken heater element or a welded SSR before the process drifts. That's a line-down prevention feature worth wiring in on any electric-heat zone.
Sensor compatibility and input range
Accepts RTD (Pt100) and thirteen thermocouple types (B, E, J, K, L, N, PLII, R, S, T, U, W) covering -200°C to 2300°C, plus 0-20 mA and 0-10 VDC linear inputs. That means one controller part number handles everything from a cryogenic bath to a kiln — just set the input type in the setup menu. The tri-color LCD display shows three rows of four characters each — the main PV, the SV, and a status line. Character heights are 18 mm, 11 mm, and 7.8 mm respectively, readable from across a panel aisle.
Panel-mount with a 92x45 mm rectangular cutout — the standard 1/4 DIN footprint. The IP66 front-panel seal means it handles washdown spray without a cover; the screw terminals are on the rear, so the wiring compartment stays dry as long as the gasket is seated. Operating temperature range is -10°C to 55°C — fine for most indoor panel environments. Supply is 100-240 VAC, so it runs on common plant power without a separate transformer.
No official successor or cross-reference from Omron — this is the current production variant. The closest functional peer is the E5EC-QX4A5M-009, which adds RS-485 communications (CompoWay/F, Modbus) but is otherwise identical in outputs, inputs, and panel cutout.
