Control loop interface and sensor matching
The E5EC-QX4ABM-011 accepts universal inputs covering RTD, thirteen thermocouple types (B, E, J, K, L, N, PLII, R, S, T, U, W), and analog signals 0-20 mA or 0-10 VDC — so one controller model covers most process sensor types without a separate signal conditioner. Outputs are a relay (SPDT) and a voltage pulse for driving an external SSR — the relay handles the on/off or alarm contact, while the voltage output fires the SSR for zero-cross or phase-angle fired heating loads. Supply is 100-240 VAC, which covers standard plant power without a step-down transformer.
Panel fit and environmental sealing
Panel cutout is 92.00 mm x 45.00 mm — the standard 1/4 DIN footprint that drops into existing panel openings without adapter plates. Spring terminals on the rear speed wiring: strip the wire, push it in, no screwdriver needed for solid or ferruled stranded conductors. The front panel carries an IP66 rating — dust-tight and protected against hose-directed water. That means it survives washdown in food processing or chemical dosing skids where a standard controller would let moisture creep past the bezel.
Heater fault detection for electric heat trace
Built-in heater fault detection monitors the current draw of the heating element through an external CT. If the load current drops below the set threshold — indicating a failed heater or open circuit — the controller flags an alarm. This is the feature that saves a freeze-up or a process temperature excursion before the operator sees the deviation.
