The Omron E5EC-QX4D5M-009 is a panel-mount process and temperature controller that accepts inputs from RTDs and a wide range of thermocouples (Types B, E, J, K, L, N, PLII, R, S, T, U, W) as well as analog signals (0–20 mA or 0–10 VDC). It operates on a 24 VAC/DC supply and provides four relay outputs plus a voltage output for driving an external solid-state relay (SSR), giving you a hybrid output stage for both on/off and PID control loops. The IP66-rated front panel means the controller face can handle washdown in food, beverage, or pharmaceutical lines without a separate cover — the screw terminals behind the panel stay protected. Built-in RS-485 communication supports both Omron's CompoWay/F protocol and standard Modbus RTU, so it drops into most PLC or SCADA networks without a protocol converter.

The tri-color LCD backlight (three character rows at 18.00 mm, 11.00 mm, and 7.80 mm height) lets you color-code alarm states or process deviations at a glance — green for normal, red for alarm, orange for standby, for example. Event input and heater fault detection are built in, so you can wire a remote pushbutton to latch a setpoint or monitor heater current via a CT and trigger an alarm on open-circuit or shorted heater.
