Six relay outputs and universal input
The E5EC-RR2ABM-800 is a panel-mount temperature controller from Omron's E5EC series, accepting inputs from RTD, thermocouple types B/E/J/K/L/N/PLII/R/S/T/U/W, plus 0-20 mA and 0-10 VDC analog signals. That means one controller covers everything from cryogenic RTD work at -200°C up to high-temp R/S thermocouple applications at 2300°C. Six relay outputs are unusual on a 1/8 DIN controller — most competitors top out at four. This lets you drive separate alarm, event, and control outputs without adding an external relay bank. The control method supports on/off or full PID with auto-tune. The IP66-rated front panel means the controller survives washdown in food, beverage, or pharmaceutical lines — the sealing is at the gasket face, not the mounting clips. Spring terminals on the back speed wiring and eliminate screw torque issues on the line.
Heater fault detection built in
Heater fault detection is integrated — it monitors current draw on the load side and flags a broken heater or SSR short before the process drifts. That saves the cost of an external current transformer and alarm module on each zone. The tri-color LCD display shows three rows of four characters each, with character heights from 0.307" to 0.710". The largest row is readable from across a panel aisle; the smaller rows can show process value, setpoint, and output status simultaneously.
Active lifecycle and panel fit
Supply voltage is 100-240 VAC, so it works on both 120 V and 208/240 V plant power without a transformer tap change.
