Universal input, five relay outputs, RS-485 on a 24 V supply
The Omron E5EC-RX4D5M-009 is a panel-mount process and temperature controller that accepts RTD, thermocouple (Types B, E, J, K, L, N, PLII, R, S, T, U, W), and linear analog inputs (0–20 mA, 0–10 VDC) covering a span from -200°C to 2300°C. It drives up to five relay outputs for on/off or PID control, and communicates over RS-485 using either CompoWay/F or Modbus protocols.
The 24 VAC/DC supply keeps the controller on the same control transformer as the PLC and field I/O — no separate 100–240 VAC tap needed. The five relay outputs are rated for direct switching of contactors, solenoid valves, or alarm loads up to the relay contact rating; for driving an external SSR, the sibling E5EC-QR4D5M-009 adds a dedicated voltage pulse output alongside the relays. IP66 on the front panel means the controller face withstands washdown spray and dust ingress — suitable for food, beverage, or chemical process panels where the enclosure is hosed down. The rectangular 92.00 mm x 45.00 mm cutout is the standard 1/4 DIN footprint; the screw terminals accept solid or stranded wire without a special tool. The tri-color LCD backlight shows three rows of four characters each, with the top row at 18.00 mm height for the process variable — readable from across a machine cell. Heater fault detection monitors current via an external CT and flags a broken heater element, a common failure in electric heat zones.
