Five relay outputs — when one contact isn't enough
The Omron E5EC-RX4DBM-010 packs five relay outputs into a single 1/4 DIN panel cutout. That means you can drive a staged heater bank, control a cooling fan, trigger an alarm, and still have a spare for a remote indicator — all from one controller without adding external relay modules. It accepts universal inputs: RTD, thermocouple types B/E/J/K/L/N/PLII/R/S/T/U/W, plus 0–20 mA or 0–10 VDC analog signals. The input range spans -200°C to 2300°C, so it handles everything from cryogenic baths to furnace zones. Control method is switchable between On/Off and full PID with auto-tune. For most process loops — oven zones, extruder barrels, packaging seal bars — the PID mode holds setpoint tighter than a bang-bang cycle can.
Heater fault detection and IP66 front panel
Built-in heater fault detection monitors the current draw of the heating element through an external current transformer. If the heater burns out or a SSR fails short, the controller flags the fault before the process drifts out of spec — a real uptime feature for ovens and hot-runner systems. The front panel carries an IP66 rating — dust-tight and protected against hose-directed water. That makes it suitable for food-processing washdown zones or outdoor enclosures where a standard controller face would fog or corrode. Spring-terminal connections on the rear speed up wiring: strip, push, done. No screwdriver needed for the control loop or power terminations.
24 VAC/DC supply — common bus, no transformer tap
The E5EC-RX4DBM-010 runs on 24 VAC/DC, so it can share a panel's 24 VDC control bus without an extra AC transformer. That simplifies BOM planning for machines that already run PLCs and sensors on 24 V. Production status is active per the manufacturer's lifecycle record. The panel cutout is 92.00 mm x 45.00 mm, the standard 1/4 DIN footprint. It fits directly into existing cutouts without panel modification when replacing an older E5EC or competing 1/4 DIN controller.
