The Omron E5EC-TCX4A5M-004 is a panel-mount process and temperature controller from the E5EC-T series, accepting RTD and thermocouple types B, E, J, K, L, N, PLII, R, S, T, U, W, plus 0-20 mA and 0-10 VDC linear inputs. Its input range spans -200°C to 2300°C for temperature and the full span of the analog signals. Control is On/Off or proportional (PID), and the unit provides four outputs: one analog output plus four relay outputs. This lets it drive a solid-state relay or valve positioner while also switching alarms or auxiliary contactors directly. An event input is included for external switching of setpoint or control mode, useful for recipe changes or safety interlocks without opening the panel.
Mounts in a rectangular cutout 92.00 mm x 45.00 mm, standard for the E5EC family. The front panel is rated IP66, dust-tight and water-resistant, so it survives washdown in food, beverage, or pharmaceutical lines without a separate cover. The tri-color LCD backlight shows three rows of four characters each, with character heights of 18.00 mm, 11.00 mm, and 7.80 mm for clear readability at a distance. Termination is via screw terminals; the controller accepts 100-240 VAC supply, so it runs directly off line voltage without a separate power supply.
Communications and lifecycle
RS-485 communication with CompoWay/F and Modbus protocols is built in, allowing direct integration with a PLC or SCADA system for setpoint download, data logging, and remote monitoring.
