What the E5EC-TCX4A5M-005 brings to a panel
The Omron E5EC-TCX4A5M-005 is a 1/4 DIN process and temperature controller from the E5EC-T series, accepting RTD and thermocouple types B, E, J, K, L, N, PLII, R, S, T, U, and W, plus 0-20 mA and 0-10 VDC linear inputs — so it covers nearly any sensor a process line throws at it without swapping modules. Its output complement is an analog signal plus four relays, meaning you get a retransmission or secondary loop output alongside four discrete control or alarm relays. That saves an external signal conditioner or a second controller in many batch and continuous processes. The 100-240 VAC supply is the standard plant voltage, so no step-down transformer is needed for the control circuit. The IP66-rated front face handles washdown environments — think food, beverage, or pharmaceutical panel doors that get hosed down.
Control method and display
The controller runs On/Off or full PID with auto-tuning. The three-color backlit LCD shows four characters per row across three rows, with character heights from 0.307" to 0.710" — the largest row is readable from across a machine cell. An event input is built in, allowing remote switching between two setpoints or starting/stopping the control action from a PLC dry contact. This avoids an extra digital input module on the PLC for a simple setpoint change.
Panel cutout is 92.00 mm x 45.00 mm. The IP66 seal on the front gasket keeps washdown water out of the electronics.
