What this controller brings to the panel
The Omron E5EC-TCX4A5M-021 is a panel-mount process and temperature controller from the E5EC-T series, running on a universal 100-240 VAC supply. It accepts a broad set of inputs — RTD, thermocouple types B/E/J/K/L/N/PLII/R/S/T/U/W, plus 0-20 mA or 0-10 VDC process signals — covering everything from a -200°C cryo bath to a 2300°C furnace.
Outputs and control loop
The output stage pairs an analog signal with four relay outputs. Control method is On/Off or full PID, so you can dial in proportional band and integral/reset terms for tight temperature regulation on a plastic extruder barrel or a reflow oven.
Front-end toughness for the plant floor
The front panel carries an IP66 rating — dust-tight and protected against hose-down. Panel cutout is 92 x 45 mm — the standard 1/4 DIN footprint — and it mounts with screw terminals, not a plug-in connector. That means you land your field wiring directly on the back of the controller; plan for tool access when you lay out the enclosure.
The event input lets you trigger a preset change, run/hold, or auto/manual transfer from an external dry contact or PLC output — useful when you want a recipe-select pushbutton on the panel door without adding a second controller.
