The Omron E5EC-TCX4D5M-021 is a panel-mount process and temperature controller from the E5EC-T series, accepting RTD and a wide range of thermocouples (B, E, J, K, L, N, PLII, R, S, T, U, W) plus 0–20 mA and 0–10 VDC linear inputs. That input flexibility means one part number covers most sensor types on a line — no need to stock separate thermocouple and RTD controllers. Control method is On/Off or full PID, giving the commissioning engineer the option to start with simple bang-bang tuning and move to PID once the process is stable. The 24 VAC/DC supply makes it a natural fit for panels that already run on 24 V control power — no separate transformer needed for the controller.
Outputs and sealing
Outputs are one analog channel plus four relays — the analog can drive an external SSR or a positioner, while the relays handle alarm, event, or secondary control loops. An event input is also on board, useful for remote run/hold or setpoint switching. The front panel carries an IP66 rating, meaning the controller survives washdown spray and dust ingress — common on food, beverage, and pharmaceutical lines where a standard NEMA 1 face would fail. Panel cutout is 92 mm × 45 mm, the standard 1/4 DIN horizontal footprint; existing cutouts for earlier E5EC or E5CS controllers will accept this without panel rework.
