Signal path and loop integration
The Omron E5EC-TQQ4A5M-008 is a 1/4 DIN panel-mount temperature and process controller that accepts RTD, thermocouple (Types B, E, J, K, L, N, PLII, R, S, T, U, W), 0-20mA, or 0-10VDC inputs — covering the range from -200°C to 2300°C. That input flexibility means one stock number covers most loop types in the plant, reducing spare-part count. The mixed output bank — four relay outputs plus two voltage pulse outputs for external SSRs — lets it drive contactors directly while simultaneously firing a solid-state power pack for fast-cycling heater zones. The relay side handles on/off or alarm duties; the SSR side handles the PID time-proportioned loop.
RS-485 Modbus and heater fault detection
RS-485 communications with both CompoWay/F and Modbus protocols are onboard — the controller appears as a standard Modbus RTU slave on the line, readable by any PLC or SCADA host without a gateway. The event input allows remote selection of a second setpoint or auto/manual transfer, useful for recipe changeovers. The heater fault detection feature monitors current draw on the load side and flags a broken heater element or failed SSR before the process drifts. This is a real time-saver on multi-zone ovens and extruder barrels where one dead zone can scrap a batch.
Panel fit and environmental sealing
Panel cutout is 92.00mm x 45.00mm (standard 1/4 DIN), with screw-terminal connections on the rear. The IP66-rated front panel — dust-tight and protected against hose-directed water — means it can be mounted on a washdown cabinet face or in a food-processing area without a separate cover. The tri-color LCD backlight (green, orange, red) lets operators see alarm conditions from across the floor — the display characters are 18.00mm, 11.00mm, and 7.80mm tall across four rows.
