The E5EC-TRR4A5M-008 accepts RTD and thirteen thermocouple types (B, E, J, K, L, N, PLII, R, S, T, U, W) plus 0-20 mA and 0-10 VDC process signals, covering the full span from -200°C to 2300°C. Six relay outputs give you independent control channels for multi-zone heating, cascade loops, or alarm annunciation — more than the four-relay variants in the E5EC family, so you can drive separate heater, cooling, and alarm circuits without external interposing relays. The LCD display shows three rows of four characters each in tri-color backlight — 18 mm, 11 mm, and 7.8 mm character heights — letting you read process value, setpoint, and output status at a glance across a panel face.
RS-485 Modbus for DCS integration and heater fault detection
RS-485 communications with both CompoWay/F and Modbus protocols means this controller talks directly to a PLC or SCADA host without a protocol converter — the Modbus RTU map is standard for most DCS platforms. Built-in heater fault detection monitors the load current via an external CT and flags a broken heater or SSR short before the process drifts — a feature that saves a batch on electric ovens and extruder barrel zones. The event input lets an external dry contact switch between two setpoints or trigger a run/hold state, useful for recipe changeovers or safety interlocks without touching the front panel.
Panel cutout and IP66 front for washdown areas
The rectangular panel cutout is 92.00 mm x 45.00 mm — the standard 1/4 DIN horizontal footprint — so it drops into existing punch-outs without adapter plates. IP66 rating on the front panel means the display and keypad survive hose-down cleaning in food, beverage, or pharmaceutical lines; the rear screw terminals are panel-protected, not rated for wet exposure. Screw-terminal wiring for all I/O — no special crimp tool or connector kit required — and the 100-240 VAC universal supply means one part number covers global line voltages without a transformer tap change.
