What this controller handles
The Omron E5EC-TRX4A5M-010 is a panel-mount process and temperature controller that accepts RTD, thermocouple types B/E/J/K/L/N/PLII/R/S/T/U/W, plus 0-20mA or 0-10VDC linear signals — so it covers virtually any industrial sensor you'd wire into a 92x45mm cutout. The 100-240VAC supply means it runs directly off line voltage without a separate power supply module. Five relay outputs give you independent control channels for heat/cool staging, alarm annunciation, or event-driven switching. The built-in event input and heater fault detection let it monitor a resistive heater's current draw and flag a blown element before the line drifts out of spec.
The IP66-rated front bezel seals against washdown and dust — it's rated for food, beverage, or chemical environments where a hose-down is part of the sanitation cycle. Panel cutout is 92.00mm x 45.00mm, the standard 1/4 DIN footprint, so it drops into existing panel punches without adapter plates. Screw terminals keep wiring straightforward for panel builders; no special crimp tool needed.
Control and display
Control method is On/Off or full PID with auto-tune — the three-line LCD shows process value, setpoint, and status simultaneously, with tri-color backlight that can shift to red on alarm. Character heights are 18.00mm (PV), 11.00mm (SV), and 7.80mm (status), readable from across a control room aisle. Each row shows 4 characters, enough for a 4-digit PV and a 4-digit setpoint. The event input can be programmed to switch between two setpoint groups or hold the PID loop, giving operators a dry-contact way to change recipes without opening the panel.
This is an active-production part.
